The #1316 Reading Teacher (PK-12) Licensure Program is a 20-credit graduate program, designed for working teachers. Coursework prepares educators to provide focused and intensive reading instruction to striving readers at all stages of literacy development in grades PK-12, across all content areas. This program provides an in-depth study of research and practice in key literacy tenets such as language development, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, academic vocabulary, reading comprehension and writing. The program culminates with a one-on-one practicum experience, guided by experts in literacy. All credits earned upon completion of the #1316 Reading Teacher Licensure coursework can be directly applied toward the Master of Science in Literacy degree. Ten additional credits are required for the master’s degree, which includes the administrative level #5017 Reading Specialist License.
